Welcome to feasts & Finds
Thanks for stopping by! I'm Kelley Brackett, the North Carolina native and leading lady behind Feasts & Finds. I love dressing up, chowing down, and exploring new places. My bucket list of places to visit, things to see, and foods to eat is still a mile long, but I'm working my way through it one delicious bite and sauntering step at a time.
Grab a glass of rosé (my fave!) and take a look around. I'm so glad you're here!
TRAVEL GUIDES
While what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas may be girl (and bro) code, I’m spilling all my secrets here. So before you hit the roulette tables or break out your stretchy pants for the all-you-can-eat buffet, take a look at my list of the 9 best things to do in Vegas—it’s a great place to start!
I’ve been visiting Asheville, North Carolina, and the Biltmore Estate since I was a kid. And while touring the indoor pool and bowling alley is always magical no matter how old you are, artist Dale Chihuly’s glass sculpture installations make America’s largest home even more mesmerizing.
If you really want to get a taste of Texas, spend a weekend in the gritty Fort Worth Stock Yards, just 10 minutes from Downtown Fort Worth. It's a historic district that'll make you feel you're walking onto the set of an old western film where nearly everyone's in character—dressed in cowboy hats, boots with spurs, and, occasionally, on horseback.
what to eat
Seafood is kinda my thing. That’s why I felt compelled to share my top two places to find it in Uptown Charlotte. Whether you’re planning a date night, a girl’s night out, or dining solo at the bar, Fin and Fino and Sea Level are two restaurants that you’ll want to add to your list.
If you've got a sweet tooth like me and the soft serve staples just won't cut it, this list is for you. All of the South End creameries on this list craft their own ingenious ice cream flavors and change them seasonally.
Rosé all day is my motto in the summertime and until the sun sets on my favorite season, you can find me wandering around Charlotte sipping glasses of this sometimes dry, sometimes sweet blush beauty.
With locations in Charlotte, Washington D.C., Atlanta, and Charleston, chances are if you're on the east coast, you're never too far from an opportunity to feast on an artfully plated meal from this family of traditional Japanese sushi restaurants.
Recipes
In many ways, salmon is a lot like chicken. It’s a great source of protein and you can have it a million different ways. If this versatile, flaky fish is one of your go-tos, give this Salmon with Dill Sauce recipe a try to add a boost of creamy flavor in a pinch.
Quinoa bowls are growing in popularity because there are literally infinite flavor combinations. Topped with sweet potato, kale, goat cheese, pomegranate, and pecans, this mix is so hearty you won’t even miss the usual comfort food culprits.
When it’s the end of the season and local peaches are on sale at your neighborhood supermarket, you buy several and make sweet and savory dishes that will hold you over till next year—like a peach, prosciutto, and burrata flatbread.
Labor Day is just around the corner, and while, truth be told, I'm a little bummed, I'm using it as an excuse to make my white wine sangria one last time before the sun sets on my favorite season.
Who doesn't love tacos? Seriously. There's a reason why Taco Tuesday has officially become a "thing." There are endless filling and topping possibilities, plus they pair perfectly with a side of chips and guac (and a margarita if you have tequila on hand).
I'll confess — scallops are my absolute weakness. They're often my go-to when eating out and my go-to when dining in (especially when these babies are on sale!). Because scallops cook in a matter of minutes, it's the perfect entree if you're short on time or if it's just too dang hot to spend all night in the kitchen.
